Seaport-e: Ki's Quality Management System

Ki maintains a company Director of Quality Management, and an approved Quality Management System (QMS).

Ki’s Quality Management System is written in accordance with the NAVSEA STANDARD ITEM 009-04 standard established by the following:

The QMS refers to all aspects of development and production that pertain to the quality pf products and services provided to clients.  The QMS manual is composed of four tiers:

  1. Tier 1, Policies – Quality Management System Manual (QMSM).  The QMSM defines the company’s quality policy as it related to each clause of the standard ANSI/ASQC Q9002-1994 and with pertinent customer standards.  It states Ki’s policy to meet the requirements of certification bodies and the customer.  As appropriate, each clause of the QMSM will reference the relevant Standard Procedures.
  2. Tier 2, Procedures – Ki Standard Procedures (KSPs).  The KSPs prescribe how the company implements the quality policies and functions.
  3. Tier 3, Work Instructions (KWIs).  The proprietary KSPs are specific and explain how to perform critical and complex jobs that cannot be sufficiently described in the KSPs.
  4. Tier 4, Records – to include Ki System Forms (KSFs). The KSFs consist of other documentation, including but not limited to records, forms, logs, checklists, and any job or contract.  Specific KSFs may be prepared according to the needs of the individual task, job, or contract as required to demonstrate compliance with the QMS.

The QMSM contains the following major sections, each describing the purpose and scope, responsibilities, the requirements, and additional specific information:
